Does DME provide recommended installation hole sizes for the different Ball Bushings offered by DME?
No. DME does not provide recommended installation hole sizes or tolerances for any of the bushings offered, including ball bushings. The mold maker is expected to measure the bushing and machine the installation hole in the plate to suit.
Does the (Thompson Precision Series A) Lineal Type Ball Bushing move or “float” within the floating mold plate?
Yes. This motion is described in the DME Mold Bases and Plates catalog. By way of comparison, the DME Pre-Loaded Type Ball Bushing does not “float” within the floating plate.
I am looking for information on (Thompson Precision Series A) Lineal Type Ball Bushings. Does DME offer this type of bushing?
We offer Lineal Type Ball Bushings for floating plates in X-, AX- and T-Series mold bases as special orders only. The bushings are shown in the DME Mold Bases and Plates catalog. Please contact us for more details.
Note: Due to the larger O.D. of the bushing counter bore required, ball bushings cannot be installed into standard leader pin locating in the mold base assembly.
